RevGenetics Rapymine Spermidine bottle on a quality-control lab bench beside a lab report and capsules

We Rejected Our Own Spermidine Batch. Here Is the Lab Report.

In short

Our last Spermidine batch (Lot 092426) tested at 25.67 mg of spermidine trihydrochloride per capsule against a 44.27 mg specification. That is about 58% of spec, or roughly 14.6 mg of actual spermidine instead of 25 mg.

We did not release it. The product is out of stock until a new batch passes independent testing. Below: the full lab report, the label math, and how to check any spermidine label yourself.

Our Spermidine is out of stock. Demand did not dry up. No supplier let us down. We pulled it ourselves.

The last batch failed our independent lab test. We could have shipped it anyway, and almost nobody would have known. We held it instead, and we are losing sales every week because of that decision. This is exactly what happened, the math behind it, and why we would make the same call again.

What the lab found

Every RevGenetics batch goes to an independent third-party lab before release. This one went to MS Bioanalytical in Champaign, Illinois, an FDA-registered testing lab and part of Normec. They measured spermidine trihydrochloride per capsule by LC-MS/MS, a mass spectrometry method that identifies a compound and measures how much of it is present.

The first result came in low. We asked for a retest. The retest, reported October 15, 2026, confirmed it.

The lab confirmed the right compound was in the capsule. It was simply the wrong amount: the readings line up with capsules filled with about 25 mg of the salt instead of 44.27 mg.

Spermidine vs spermidine trihydrochloride: the 57% rule

Supplement spermidine is almost always sold as a salt, spermidine trihydrochloride (also written spermidine 3HCl), because it is the stable powder form. The catch: salt weight is not spermidine weight. The three hydrochloride groups add mass but no spermidine.

Spermidine: 145.25 g/mol
Spermidine trihydrochloride: 145.25 + (3 × 36.46) = 254.63 g/mol
Spermidine share of the salt: 145.25 / 254.63 = 0.5704, about 57%
25 mg of spermidine needs: 25 / 0.5704 / 0.99 purity = 44.27 mg of 99% salt

Run the same math in reverse and 25 mg of the salt delivers only about 14.3 mg of spermidine. Same capsule. Same bottle. A very different dose.

Quick rule: milligrams of spermidine trihydrochloride × 0.57 = milligrams of actual spermidine.

Why nobody would have known

Dietary supplements are not approved by the FDA before they are sold. Responsibility for what is in the bottle sits with the company that puts its name on it.

A short-filled capsule looks exactly like a full one. It weighs almost the same. An identity test would have passed, because the right compound was there. Most customers will never send a capsule to a lab. A batch like this could have shipped, been taken every morning for four months, and nobody would have been the wiser.

We would have known.

Why we held it anyway

Pulling a batch costs real money: raw material, production, testing, refunds, and every sale we miss while the shelf sits empty. In this economy, that hurts. We accept it.

The reason is simple. Our own families and friends take RevGenetics products. Every bottle we ship has to be one we would hand to them. A few extra dollars is not worth breaking that.

We have been doing this since 2007. That standard is the whole business.

Every customer with a pending Spermidine order heard from us directly, received a copy of the lab report, and got to choose: a full refund, full store credit, or wait for a new batch made from scratch.

How to check any spermidine label

You do not need a lab to protect yourself. You need five minutes and the Supplement Facts panel.

  1. Find what the milligrams refer to. "Spermidine 25 mg" and "spermidine trihydrochloride 25 mg" are different doses. A clear label reads like: Spermidine (as spermidine trihydrochloride 44.27 mg) 25 mg.
  2. Do the conversion. If only the salt is listed, multiply by 0.57 to get actual spermidine.
  3. Watch for extract weight. Wheat germ and other extracts often list the extract, not the spermidine inside it, which can be a small fraction of the number on the front.
  4. Ask for a Certificate of Analysis. It should come from an independent lab and report spermidine content per capsule, not identity alone.
  5. Match the lot number. A COA only covers the lot that was tested. Check that it matches the lot printed on your bottle.

What happens next

Fresh spermidine trihydrochloride from a new lot was shipped to our manufacturer at the end of October 2026. The new production is formulated to 44.27 mg of 99% salt per capsule, for 25 mg of actual spermidine.

Before a single bottle goes back on sale, the independent lab will:

  • Confirm identity: that the material in the capsule is spermidine trihydrochloride
  • Quantify it: actual milligrams per capsule
  • Test individual capsules, not just a blended sample, to confirm consistency from capsule to capsule

If it passes, RevGenetics Rapymine Spermidine comes back in stock. If it fails, it stays off the shelf until a batch passes.

FAQs

How much spermidine is in 25 mg of spermidine trihydrochloride?

About 14.3 mg. Spermidine makes up 57% of spermidine trihydrochloride by weight, so 25 mg of the salt multiplied by 0.5704 equals 14.26 mg of actual spermidine.

How much spermidine trihydrochloride equals 25 mg of spermidine?

43.83 mg of pure salt, or 44.27 mg of 99% pure spermidine trihydrochloride. That is the per-capsule specification for RevGenetics Spermidine.

Why is RevGenetics Spermidine out of stock?

Lot 092426 tested at about 58% of specification in independent LC-MS/MS testing, so we did not release it. A new batch is being made from a fresh lot of raw material and will return to stock only after it passes independent testing.

Does a Certificate of Analysis prove a supplement is correctly dosed?

Only if it measures the amount of the active ingredient per serving, comes from an independent lab, and matches the lot number on your bottle. A COA that confirms identity alone does not tell you the dose.

What did customers with pending orders receive?

Each customer was contacted directly with a copy of the lab report and offered a full refund, full store credit, or the option to wait for the new batch.
