Current FDA regulations allow companies to test imported resveratrol as little as once a year. This is called "Skip-lot testing". RevGenetics does not perform this type of testing, and have a resveratrol safety process to test every batch we use for purity and safety. Recently, our resveratrol safety process uncovered a Chinese company that wanted to provide the US market with Mercury tainted resveratrol. Why do we notify the public of this? Simply because other companies would have used it in their own products without adequate safety testing. We simply test every batch for your safety, read below:

In July of 2008, we received a batch of 50% resveratrol from a new Chinese company with the name of "Shaanxi Sciphar Biotechnology Co. LTD." operated by a Mr. Fang Li. The initial sample that was sent to us tested well at the independent laboratory.

Regardless of the vendor, we have resveratrol safety procedures which always tests our batches upon arrival, even if the initial sample with the same batch number tested well.

When the resveratrol material arrived, it was quarantined and a sample sent to the lab (AACL), per our established resveratrol safety procedures. When the resveratrol safety tests came back, we were amazed at the toxic amounts of mercury that the resveratrol batch contained. We immediately cut ties with the vendor, and warned others about this unscrupulous Chinese company that was selling dangerous resveratrol.

Be advised that do due our current FDA regulations, other companies that offer free trials could have used this bad batch without testing it. The United States FDA allows companies to test batches as little as once a year for compliance, while as many as 10-12 batches in ordinary manufacturing plants could go untested. RevGenetics goes above the minimum FDA safety requirements and tests all resveratrol batches for purity and safety.

Don't buy resveratrol products made outside of the USA:

The resveratrol safety lab tests below, show the bad batch we disposed of and never made available to the public. The resveratrol safety tests show that the material not only did not meet our specifications for 50% resveratrol but also showed an illegal and harmful amount of Mercury. To help compare this amount of Mercury shown on page two of the resveratrol safety test, we will compare it to what is allowed in food:

In the United States, fish are limited to 0.5 ppm (parts per million), however the resveratrol that was provided by this unscrupulous chinese company had a toxic level of over 49 ppm of Mercury. That is close to 100 times the FDA limit of Mercury that is allowed in our own food.

We currently believe that this Chinese vendor continues to sell resveratrol to the US market. We can only hope that others start to test their raw materials as much as we do.

We are providing this true story, because we wanted to make our customer's aware that not all resveratrol companies go above and beyond the regular FDA requirements and have our resveratrol safety procedures in place.

Skip lot testing is allowed for many supplements, not just resveratrol. Companies are allowed to go without any resveratrol safety testing from imported materials, and accept the foreign "paperwork" provided on it's face value. We fear that if tests are not done properly, folks may be harmed by vendors such as the one we encountered in 2008 or harmed by other foods such as the tainted milk that killed at least 6 children and made another 300,000 people sick (link).
